What are the Requirements for NYSC Registration?
Cash: Go with a lot of money, around N7,000 – N10,000 or even more in some places like Lagos and Abuja. You should know that a payment of N2,789.24 will be made directly to NYSC for a call-up letter (containing your call-up number).
This payment will ensure your call-up letter will be uploaded on your dashboard when it is ready for you to download simply. The payment is optional though, if you don't pay, that's fine, your call-up letter will be sent to your school. You will have to go to your school to collect it.

National Identification Number (NIN): All PCMs MUST provide their NIN during the registration.
JAMB Registration Number: This is used for verification and authentication during online registration. It confirms that PCMs were duly admitted through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), their names are on the JAMB Matriculation list, and that they have completed their tertiary education.
Matriculation Number: Another identifier to prove the authenticity of PCMs studentship.
Live Image Capture (Webcam): Get prepared to take a face snapshot during the registration. In this regard, make sure you are well dressed. No face caps, glasses, fancy or coloured haircuts. I mean, just dress formal, very formal.
Biometrics Capturing: Make sure your hands are clear enough for biometrics capturing. The NYSC has consistently warned against the use of henna (laali) by ladies as it may obstruct fingerprint capturing.
Email Address: All PCMs must provide an email address during the registration.

What You Need to Know Before NYSC Registration
1. Know the closest Cyber Café to you
Remember not all cyber cafes can process NYSC registration. The Scheme has made available accredited cyber cafes where all PCMs must carry out their registration. By now, you should already know the closest Cyber Café to you. If not, visit the link below to see the list:

2. Get Your Documents Ready

It is advisable you go along with all your credentials, even though you may not need some during the registration, you may need them to confirm consistency with your data, so you do not provide wrong information while registering and provide conflicting data during in-camp registration.
Documents like your NIN slip, birth certificate, statement of result, school ID card, and indigene certificate should be with you as you go for the registration.
Foreign corps members will require the aforementioned documents alongside their evaluation letter (mostly for graduates of African universities).
Married Corps members, on the other hand, should add these documents to their list: marriage certificate, evidence of change of name and their husband's place of domicile during registration.
Remember, you will do another registration when you resume at camp. You want to be sure all your data corresponds, otherwise it will lead to a disqualification from the scheme, and you may even get arrested.
3. Make Use of ONLY Official Websites of the NYSC
The official websites for NYSC are:
The last link above is where the registration takes place. The first is where you can learn more about the scheme. Make sure you are on either of these sites, because there will be numerous scammers out there that will try to replicate the interface on fraudulent domain URLs that might look similar to that of the NYSC’s. Look closely.
Other things you should note
1. Get a functional and active email address: When the registration starts, there will be too much traffic on some email providers. This is always a frustrating problem all year round because it is usually the first hurdle most PCMs encounter.
You will create an account on the NYSC registration portal in the first stage of the application process, which will require an email address. After which a confirmation mail would be sent to that email address before you can proceed. If the mail does not arrive in time, you will be stuck.
Rather than wait for the delay, you could try other email providers. This is why it is advisable that you go prepared with two or more emails from different providers, e.g. with Gmail, Yahoo mail or even Hotmail.
2. Crosscheck your Matriculation Number during registration, and make sure it is correct. Go along with your school ID card to the cyber café during registration to be certain.
3. Only Candidates whose names appear on Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their Institutions will have access to the registration portal. Make sure your name is on the list. You can check it now below:
4. No registration by proxy!
You cannot send any other person to register for you. This goes for all candidates. On no occasion should you attempt it, as it is a criminal offence. This also implies using another person’s fingerprint for biometrics.
On some occasions, PCMs do witness challenges with capturing their biometrics. This is why NYSC has occasionally warned against tattoos and henna (for ladies) as these may obstruct a successful capturing of the fingerprints.
Remember that after the registration, your fingerprint will also be verified at the orientation camp, if it does not tally or cannot be verified, you will be kicked out.
5. Hold enough cash for registration and feeding. You may spend the entire day in the cyber café due to network issues trying to run the registration.
6. PCMs who registered previously but were not mobilized need not pay the registration fees again.
7. Pregnant and nursing mothers would not be accommodated in camp.
8. Part-time graduates can register online too and print their exclusion letter online.
9. Foreign-trained graduates are to use Nigerian Phone numbers during the registration.
In conclusion, the NYSC online registration is quite a hectic activity due to the traffic that pours in the website during the registration period. Be fully prepared, hydrated, well documented. Have enough cash and make sure you are physically and emotionally fit, and above all be healthy!
