As she put it, this would "act as a preventive measure while providing early intervention and counseling to individuals who are currently using drugs to keep them from developing into problematic users."

During a radio program in Ilorin that our journalist listened to, Hajia Abiola-Popoola revealed this. The head of the NDLEA also voiced alarm over the growing number of drug users in the nation, especially women. She issued a warning, saying that families and society as a whole are seriously at risk from this tendency.

"A 2018 survey indicates that 14.3 million people in Nigeria were drug users," the speaker stated.

In Nigeria, drug users make up one in seven people, while women make up one in four of these individuals.

"The fact that a woman manages the household indicates that society is in trouble."
