EFCC Essay Competition for Students in Tertiary Institutions and Secondary Schools, 2024
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is inviting the general public, especially students of secondary and tertiary institutions to submit entries for its 2nd edition of the EFCC Essay competition commencing on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

CATEGORIES
A. TERTIARY CATEGORY
TOPIC: "Using Technology for Social Good: How Digital Skills Can Be Leveraged to Promote Transparency in Governance."
Participants in the tertiary category shall be accessed and judged based on originality of about 1, 500 words and their logical presentation of facts in the ways technological skills can be used to address social and environmental issues, such as developing Apps for healthcare or education, analyzing data for social justice causes, or creating digital tools for environmental sustainability
B. SECONDARY CATEGORY
TOPIC: "Exploring Alternatives to Cybercrimes for Sustainable Development"
Participants in the secondary category shall be assessed and judged based on the originality of about 1,000 words, clarity and aptness of the proffered alternatives to cybercrimes and how young people can channel their energy and creativity into positive online pursuits, such as digital art, music, writing, or entrepreneurship.

ENTRIES
Submissions to start from Thursday, August 8, 2024 to Monday, September 9, 2024. Winners shall be invited during the Cybercrime Summit tentatively scheduled for October 2024.
Six winners in Nigeria (three each from secondary and tertiary category) shall be invited to Abuja for the presentation of the award.
PRIZES
A. TERTIARY CATEGORY
Winner = N800,000 Eight Hundred Thousand Naira
First runner up = N500,000 Five Hundred Thousand Naira
Second runner up = N300,000 Three Hundred Thousand Naira
B. SECONDARY CATEGORY
Winner = N700,000 Seven Hundred Thousand Naira
First runner up = N400,000 Four Hundred Thousand Naira
Second runner up = N300,000 Three Hundred Thousand Naira
Note:
All AI-assisted entries would be disqualified.
Children and wards of EFCC personnel are not eligible to participate
