NHEF Announces Winners of 7th Essay Scholarship Competition | Check the List
This is to inform all participants of the 7th Annual NHEF Scholarship Essay Competition of the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) that, the list of the competition winners have been released.
Since its launch in 2015, the competition has continued to serve as a platform that encourages Nigerian university students to think critically and strategically about issues of vital importance to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and development.
This edition challenged university students to reflect and recommend viable solutions to Nigeria’s current financial and economic situation, focusing on the recent CBN Naira redesign policy and its effect on the economy & the consequence of increased brain drain in Nigeria.
The competition recorded interest from over 700 students, making it the most competitive round. This led to the recognition of two additional applicants, making five (5) finalists that were selected following a rigorous academic evaluation by our expert panel of judges.
Ibe Chijioke Kennedy, a 500-level Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences student from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, emerged as the Grand Prize winner.
The NHEF also wishes to congratulate the following students:
First Runner-up: Adegoke Adeseun Oladayo (University of Ibadan)
Second Runner-up: Adeyeye Ibukun Joshua (University of Lagos)
Third Runner-up: Agwuna Favour Obianuju (University of Nigeria, Nsukka)
Fourth Runner-up: Halima Ummi Ismail (Bayero University, Kano)
PRIZES
The Grand Prize winner will be awarded ₦100,000, a new laptop, 1 online certificate course*, a 1-year internet subscription** and 1 year of university tuition.
The First Runner-up will be awarded ₦75,000, a 1-year internet subscription** and 1 year of university tuition.
The Second Runner-up will be awarded ₦50,000, a 1-year internet subscription** and 1 year of university tuition.
The Third and Fourth Runner-up will be awarded 1 year of university tuition and 1-year internet subscription**
*The online certificate course may not exceed $100 on Udemy, Coursera, Alison or EDX.
**1-year internet subscription estimated at 24Gb on the winner’s preferred mobile network.
All the winners are expected to contact the NHEF via email at programs@thenhef.org to claim their prizes.
