Gombe State Govt. Announces Resumption Date for Tertiary Institutions

Tertiary institutions in Gombe state have been directed to resume academic activities starting from 10th November 2020. The state Commissioner for Higher Education, Meshack Lauco disclosed this on Monday.

He called on the institutions of learning to protect the lives of their staff and students by complying with the laid down COVID-19 safety protocols as listed by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Lauco further advised the schools to request the state's Ministry of Environment to fumigate and disinfect their facilities before resumption.

Reacting to this, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Gombe State University chapter, Dr Oladimeji Lawal stated that there would not be academic activities until the ASUU strike was resolved.
