Niger State to Reopen Schools on October 4th

Niger State Government has notified all basic and post-basic classes of private and public classes to resume the third term academic activities of the 2019/2020 session on October 4, 2020.

The Niger State Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Hannatu Salihu made this known in Minna on Monday. She stated that the reopening of schools is an aftermath of a series of meetings with stakeholders and State Commissioners for Education.

Hajiya Salihu remarked that all teachers are to return to their respective schools from September 29 to commence preparations for the reopening of schools. She added that public boarding schools are exempted from resuming, except SS2 classes that would resume using the platooning model.

The Commissioner said students in JSS1 and JSS2, as well as pupils of primary 1 - 3 in public schools, would attend morning classes, while SS1 and SS2 students and pupils in primary 4 - 6 would attend evening classes.

According to her, all senior and junior secondary schools, private primary schools, Tsangaya, Quranic Islamiyya and faith-based schools were to open and operate in line with COVID-19 protocol. She further revealed that the 2020/2021 session would commence on January 3, 2021.
