BUK to Host National Mathematical Conference First Time in 28 Years

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is set to host the next year’s Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) Conference tagged Kano 2020 for the first time in 28 years, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello confirmed this on Friday, 22nd November, 2019, while receiving officials of the association who paid him a courtesy visit as part of the preparations for the conference.
The Vice-Chancellor, who is also a fellow of the professional body said “we will be glad to host the MAN 2020 Conference because the last that Bayero University hosted was in 1992,” he stated.
Professor Bello said BUK was endowed with venues of international standard to host any conference of this nature, making reference with the Dangote Business School, Convocation Arena, and the International Conference Centre, which he said would be commissioned early next year.
Earlier, the President of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Professor Mamman Musa disclosed that the aim of their visit was to solicit the support of the University towards hosting the MAN Conference which they tagged Kano 2020.
He said MAN usually visits hosting State to see facilities available and to seek for support as part of the preparation for the conference.
Professor Musa thanked the VC for his untiring support and described BUK as a fast-growing university which he said was a testimony of good leadership.
The officials were led by the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas who later took them for a tour within the University.
