MAUTECH Shut Down Indefinitely After Students Protest Over Blasphemy

Authorities of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, have ordered an indefinite closure of
the school following students’ unrest Sunday.
Students of the federal university
of technology have been ordered to vacate the campus.

This followed an emergency
meeting of the Senate which took place Monday.
The unrest which claimed the
life of a student was reported to have been caused by the Student Union
Government leadership tussle. However unconfirmed sources has it that the
violence is a fall out of an alleged blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad on
WhatsApp
The school management is yet
to confirm or deny the cause of the crisis.
At the moment, Security
personnel including DSS, police, and civil defence corps have been drafted to
maintain vigilance in conjunction with the internal security apparatus of the
university.
