Universities Begs JAMB To Extend Jan. 25th Admission Deadline For 2017/2018
;
Admission
officers of some Nigerian Universities have reportedly commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) for the newly created central admissions processing centre, but
appeal for an extension of the January 25, 2018 deadline to close all admission
exercises.
However
JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede says over seventy percent of admissions
have been processed while insisting on the generally agreed closing date for
the 2017/2018 admissions.
Haroma
Emmanuel and Babani Sani are admission officers from the university of Jos and
Bauchi State Universities respectively.
They
are at the jamb headquarters in Abuja to conclude processing their schools
admission lists, haven encountered some challenges back in their institutions.
For
Ibrahim Waziri of the information department of University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) and a
professor from Kaduna State University (KASU), the January 25 deadline on admissions
is feasible.
Jamb
registrar however feels the deadline given to universities to conclude
admissions should stand.
The
registrar also appealed to striking non-teaching staff of universities and
the government to have an agreement in order not to cause the postponement of
the UTME since majority of the computer based centres are located on campus.
Over
six hundred thousand candidates are expected to gain admission in the 2017/2018
academic sessions.
