JAMB Adopts New Admission Policy For Universities With High Number of Applicants
According to the Registrar of JAMB,
Professor Dibu Ojerinde during the Combined Policy Meeting held last
week, candidates of universities with surplus applicants for the Unified
Matriculation Examinations (UTME) are reassigned to other universities
with lower number of candidates than their capacities.
.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board (JAMB), during the Combined Policy Meeting, adopted this new
policy for admission of UTME candidates into various universities in the
country.
This policy he said will be beneficial
to universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities,
as this will ensure that these universities will have more candidates to
admit.
After the 2015/2016 JAMB UTME registration officially closed, the Nigerian Scholars Team compiled the list of most sought after universities.
Out of the over 180 universities in Nigeria, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has the highest number of JAMB UTME applicants with over 85,945 candidates seeking admission into the institution. This
is followed by the University of Benin (UNIBEN) with over 60,020
applicants, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) with over
58,410 UTME applicants.
